_______________________________________________________________________

Summer 2009

Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. Proverbs 24:11  Niv

Our late summer insertion into Cambodian culture was as always challenging and rewarding.  Cambodia is such a land of contrast.  For instance our first day we rose early and had a rather normal breakfast at our hotel.  By 8:00 we were off to the province fighting our way through traffic in a system where the largest vehicle has the right of way but the motos can always go around you.  What side of the road you are on is only advisory and traffic lights, a new thing, are a suggestion.   Later we are enjoying a Khmer lunch served with love.

We finally get out of the city, less traffic but more ox carts, cows in the road and various other novelties keep you alert as you journey.  Our destination the Takeo region where the gospel is growing and churches are being planted. I have ministered here many times and we have helped with numerous small projects. A church has instruments, in another dishes. We have provided food, scholarships, even rain gutters so that they can collect rainwater for cleaning and drinking. We ministered in a new village and then went to a central church for a larger service. Many local pastors and leaders attended and we were able to encourage them. We watched the Lord come in power and touch people as they knelt on a hard tile floor and sought the Lord.

Sunday we split up and the ladies went to the north side of Phnom Penh and ministered in a growing church with Pastor Wana who was the national in charge of the camp committee.  I returned to the Takeo province ministering in churches and visiting others with Ken Huff.  The church continues to grow here and is in need of support.  Several churches would love to have a guitar, keyboard or sound equipment. Others need a well.  New churches are needed.  10,000 will build a church that is also used as a school. Please pray as the Lord is moving here, many of the pastors who are planting churches among these rice farming villages are woman. They are tenacious and tough.

We journeyed 4 hours north and met our leadership team and began the training process for camps, the next two weeks were about children’s camps. In the City of Battenbang we held our first camp, this was a first ever for this northern province.  Over 150 children came.

We worked with the team on every aspect of camp.  The highlight was the service on the Holy Spirit.  God was faithful not only did the children receive ministry at levels never experienced but many of the adults were touched.  Pastors who had come for the service told us they had no idea that children could be touched in such a way.  Many of the adults had not experienced Gods power so dynamically.

The same testimonies were reported for the second camp, about half the children attending professed faith in Christ for the first time.  Many were touched and called.  New concepts were introduced to the leadership. Allowing time at the altars for children was a new concept.   The faith level was elevated pastors were touched as God drew them to the services I ministered at.  The children’s pastors who taught were coached and mentored.  Threw a couple weeks of 14 hour days, the lord kept us healthy.

Between camps we were able to spread out and minister in the Siem Reap area I visited a small church to encourage my friend Pastor Liem and preach the gospel.  A whole family as well as several others was saved that day.

As our trip drew to a close we spent our time ministering on the streets and visiting with locals. The girls had a great idea and spent several hours providing coloring paper and crayons to the street kids.  I am kicking myself; I should have had some books of hope and Bibles.  By the time I left I could have given them to a number of people who would have received them. Even some of the tuk tuk drivers I had chewed out so much had seemed to gained interest.  Tuk tuk drivers are often purveyors of immorality.  My response was to correct them in love.

Thanks to those who have sown, our partners working among the street children in Phnom Penh were helped financially, a scholarship was given, several pastors were helped, medical supplies delivered, leaders encouraged  and people experienced the touch of Jesus

Our trip was successful people were discipled, lives changed, people saved, and our field personnel encouraged. However in the end my heart broke for hundreds of girls who sit by the street doing massage, hundreds of tuk tuk drivers who hustle night and day. This will haunt me.  I saw a thousand precious souls who need Jesus; I walked the streets full of vendors, street kids, massage parlors and tuk tuk drivers. Most ignore them. Some use them. Who will love them? I felt like we accomplished our purpose for the trip.  But I left my heart with the street kids, and the night people of Siem Reap.

We have been amiss at communicating many of you helped us with our ministry efforts in Cambodia/Vietnam Last year as well as the conferences in Mexico.  The report letter is collecting dust along with numerous other projects.  Here are some highlights.

Mexico was right on the target, stirring the church and leadership. We had 3 leadership venues and 14 services.  God showed up in power at each one.  I was able to address the regional ministerial association and the power of God fell.

We led the church in Mexico in Identification Repentance over the abuses of the church. (The things that brought reproach to the name of Christ) Many people were saved healed and delivered.

Cambodia and Vietnam were more social action and introducing the gospel.  We did a few leader events and were in the international school. In working with a rescue agencies we had a real breakthrough there and a sovereign demonstration in response to prayer.  We taught in the Bible school, prayed for all the orphans in the Government managed orphanage that we are assisting with food. We started a dental clinic, Visited 6 villages, and 5 of which the gospel is being introduced to for the first time. We were able to connect with some believers in the garment district and assist them in introducing the gospel.  In Vietnam we went to an English club and shared in small groups with over 70 Vietnamese university students for a couple nights.  We also did a lot of prayer walking and street ministry in both countries.

Both trips were successful in that the body was strengthened and all converts or potentials were aligned with skilled follow-up. We were able to distribute $6500 in Cambodia to key leaders or in significant purchases such as milk, meat, literature and dental equipment.

All that aside we have been running hard here. We are trying to stir the region and the local leadership. I have written and met with local pastors several times.  We are kicking of a new evangelism campaign and reaching out for fresh blood in the ministry effort.

This year we covet your prayers as we prepare to go to Sri Lanka, We will be addressing key leaders in this persecuted country. You may not be aware, but we have numerous stories, of pastors being beaten, assaulted, and killed. Homes burned down, churches burned down and discrimination and persecutions are part of the everyday life for Christians there.

Only 1% of the 16 million is evangelical, of those 75% are associate with the Assemblies of God. We are partnering with the Ag and the leading Charismatic group there as well as both Bible Schools.

We will be heading into a nation that is gripped by civil war, and heavily persecuted. We will be meeting with key leaders of the Church.  We will be addressing a leaders retreat led by the General Council there.

From their we will go to Cambodia to do more outreach, preaching, and evangelism, a team of 8 will join the three of us from Sri Lanka.

As we go we go to places where people can not help themselves. I was explaining to a group one day that the average villager lives on 100 dollars a month.  A person said will they should just get a better job.  That is an American experience.  The statement is irrelevant in a village where people live in huts planting and harvesting rice for a share.

I have a personal goal to take everyone I can to this part of the world or places similar.

Until you have been around people who get the protein form insects, and whose children suffer from malnutrition. Until you have experienced seeing real hunger. Until you have seen a child dying from conditions that are 100 % preventable. Until you have seen 4 and 5 year olds sold in to prostitution your world view is not quite full.

We can not solve all these problems but we go to encourage the frontline warriors, missionaries and local Christians.  I will be ministering to the International church in Phnom Penn; please pray God gives me a word of Life for them.  We go to see that some children live, we have increased the life expectancy in an orphanage as resources increase so will our efforts.

We sincerely covet your prayers for our team of 11 and for our partners in each country.

Please pray for open doors and anointing to break the yoke and signs following. Please pray for our health and safety.

We are partnering with AGWM, Ken huff, Larissa and Ken Dobson, The book of Hope, The General Council of the Assemblies of God in Sri Lanka, Lanka Bible college, The International Church in Phnom Penn, World Hope, Starfishing Inc and of Course Abundant Life Ag.

If you can partner with us in anyway we need prayer support and financial help.

Among other things we need to help with repairs at the orphanage, we need funds for pastors and programs.  We will need to purchase literature. There are several churches that have been burned down.  We need to buy a vitamin based milk to take over to combat malnutrition. We hope to release funds for a school in a village.

We have always paid our own way but the demands on our own ministry are stretching our resources if would prayerfully consider partnering with us we guarantee the seed.

We pray you are well and bountifully blessed.

We pray God’s grace and favor.

We continue to give our lives for Him

Sri Lanka 2008

We are returning to Sri Lanka this year.  I am asking you to pray as I prepare for the trip to Sri Lanka this fall.   This is a tough assignment and God has assembled a team to lift, support and assist the local body.

·         1% of the 16 Million people that make up Sri Lanka are evangelical

·         75% of those evangelized are associated with the Assemblies of God

·         Pastors are persecuted in this country – I have numerous stories of pastors being beaten, assaulted and killed.  Homes and churches burned down.  Many are discriminated against and persecuted for their Christian Faith.

·         This is a nation gripped by civil war and heavy persecution

·         Leadership Retreat - I will be addressing and meeting with over 200 key leaders

·         I am Partnering with the Following Established Organizations:

Please to pray as I prepare for the trip to Cambodia this fall and to Mexico this spring.  I and the team that God provides me with are planning to implement the following activities.

·         Outreach to community, neighborhood and streets

·         Speaking, preaching and teaching opportunities

·         Evangelism & resource materials

·         Leadership training

·         Micro-economic projects

·         Needed repairs at the orphanage

·         Funds for pastors and programs

·         Rescuing children from sex slavery

·         Assistance in rebuilding churches that have been burned down

·         Combat malnutrition by providing protein and dairy

·         Build an elementary school for one village

These destinations are where people cannot help themselves.  It is where people make an average salary of $100 per month to support themselves and their families.  Some people have said that they just need to go out and get better jobs.  It is impossible where people live in huts and plant and harvest rice for their daily meal.

My personal goal is to take everyone I can to this part of the world or places that are similar.  Until an individual has had a personal experience, witnessing first hand very real physical and spiritual hunger, those who eat insects for protein, children suffering from malnutrition or dying from conditions that are 100% preventable, or  4 and 5 year old children sold into prostitution, that person’s world view is rather limited.  You and I cannot solve these problems alone, but together we can support those warriors on the frontline and make a difference for many.

If there is something in this letter that has ignited a burning desire inside you, you may be interested in joining a future team to one or more of the upcoming tours.  Please give this prayerful thought and consideration.   If you are unable to attend, but would like to help me continue doing this work in an effort at reaching souls for Christ, please consider a tax deductible financial gift.  Your gift will allow me to continue the work that has been started in these countries.  The groundwork and networking has already been laid.  We have the opportunity in our very grasp, to be even more effective and to have a further reaching effect.

I plan to minister in the International Church in Phnom Penn.  Please pray that God will give me a word for life for them.  Also, I will plan to increase our presence at the orphanage.  You and I have made a difference there and today, children have a longer life expectancy because of your gift.  I am partnering with Assemblies of God World Missions Ken Huff, Ken Dobson, Larissa Dobson, The Book of Hope, the General Council of Assemblies of God in Sri Lanka, Lanka Bible College, The International Church in Phnom Penn, World Hope, Starfishing Inc., and Abundant Life Church.

Please consider partnering with me, as I need your prayer support and financial help.  In the past, I have always paid my own way and have only requested funds for others.  Unfortunately, the demands on our own ministry are stretching our resources.  I pray you are well and bountifully blessed as fall approaches.  I pray God’s grace and favor in your life as we continue to give our lives for Him.

Blessings,
